International Day of Peace #2

Time to show-off 😀

Friday night, October 4th was a special moment for Female English Home members since we have an unforgettable performance in English Performance Show (EPS). We were showing our talent and presenting a poster. The EPS’ theme for this month is about “Peace Day”. In the previous post, we have shared about spreading “peace message through flower”, that was the series of our events on commemorating the International day of peace.

Three weeks before the performance day, we were asked to do a citizen journalism project. We had to interview three different people from different background. We had to ask them about the meaning of peace based on their opinions and how to gain peace in their lives. The most interesting part is that one of the interviewee should be a native speaker/foreigner. That’s why we had to go to Malioboro street to interview the foreigner. Thanks God we could find two foreigners in Sosrowijayan street which is located near Malioboro street.

Beside, we were offered by the committee to perform something in EPS night. Fio agreed to sing a song and July agreed to read a poem. They would do musicalization of poetry featuring Inoy as a guitar player. Inoy is a member of Jogja English Course and Community. We only rehearsed the song and poetry for three days since we were so busy with our own activities.

Finally, the EPS night has come, we gathered in Jogja English parking lot which has been made over to be the venue. There were around 30 people who participated in this event. The event was started with an ice breaking activity. We were divided into some groups then we were asked to listen to a song and arranged the jumble stanzas given by the committee. The next agenda was performance from Fio, July, and Inoy. They did the musicalization of poetry seriously and the audiences were very interested to their performance..even they wanted more :D.

The second agenda was “Talk show about peace” with foreigner. We invited a foreigner from China, her name is Crystal. The talk show was taking about 30 minutes including questions and answers session. The audiences were so enthusiastic on asking some questions to the foreigner. Mara, one of Female English Home members also asked something to the foreigner.

The third agenda was “Slide show and Poster Presentation”. Female English Home members were divided into two groups: group A and group B. The members of group A are Mara, Lindawati, Little Linda, and Christine while the members of group B are Indah, Fio, and July. Actually there are 12 members in Female English Home but unfortunately some of them couldn’t join in the EPS since they had agendas in their campus. That’s why only 7 members who could join in EPS. Totally, there are five groups who presented their posters in this event, the first presentation was delivered by TOEFL Class members, then continued by Bridging Class members, group A of Female English Home members, group B of Female English Home members, and the last was Auto-Global Class members.

Actually the members of Female English home were so nervous on presenting the “slide show and poster” since it was their first time on doing presentation in front of many people. However they did it well and now they become more confident than before. Even though they were not chosen as the best group but this EPS really improved their skill and gave a great impression for them. Moreover, surprisingly July got a gift as the most active member in this event. Hopefully the other members will be motivated to be more active in the next EPS :D.
